My quest for answers led me through countless dermatological consultations, yet no diagnosis regarding the Parkinson’s related skin rash was ever reached.

According to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, “One of the less common and lesser-known symptoms of Parkinson’s disease (PD) is changes in the skin. Possible skin symptoms include rashes, which can come from PD itself, medications to treat the disease.”

The following treatments has been recommended, but always seek instructions from your doctors.

Prepare your skin by gently loosening scales and patches with mineral oil before cleansing.

For your hair and beard, opt for anti-fungal or anti-dandruff shampoo twice a week. Seek formulations containing ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, sulfur, salicylic acid, or similar ingredients.

Nourish your facial skin daily with alcohol-free, perfume-free, and dye-free cleansing and moisturizing products.

Follow your doctor’s prescription diligently, applying any prescribed topical anti-fungal or anti-inflammatory cream as directed.
